Free speech, native advertising, and sponsored content come to South Park



If you missed the two-part series of South Park over the past two weeks, there are a lot of great gems.

The first four minutes of the first part are a great take on free speech, freedom of the press, and the problems of the current trendy version of political correctness in school.  The topic recurs several times, so watch the whole episode if you have time.

Starting at about 4:30 there is a great rant about click bait social media ads. One of the dads describes a rabbit hole they took him on against his wishes and distracting him away from what he was supposed to be doing.

At 8:48, there is also a short parody of political debates. Totally different subject, so this might be something for a whole different set of you to check out. But funny.

Then the main story goes through a funny conspiracy theory of consumer marketers and ad agencies that are taking over the world through clickbait.  It gets a little over the top in the second part, so you might want to stop after just the first part.  But if you have the stomach for it, go through the second one as well.

In particular, check out minute 10 of the second part. That is a good parody of sponsored content too.
