This Week in EID - Episode 91

I really enjoyed the EID articles this week. We covered a variety of interesting domains.  Intelligence amplification is similar to what HF pros usually call augmented cognition. Using AI to judge/predict humor didn’t get as much pushback as I thought it would.  The industry-level pattern recognition article is probably the one with the most immediate and broad application.

But I got no comparable stories about my clock radio usability comparison.  What’s up with that people?

Core Motivation for Creative Professionals

The latest episode of This Old Marketing (PNR 116) triggered a thought. Which would energize me (or anyone) more as a creative business professional:

  1. Creating content that has the primary purpose of driving the sales pipeline and a secondary purpose of improving the life of my users.
  2. Creating content that has the primary purpose of improving the life of my user and a secondary purpose of driving the sales pipeline.
For me it is clearly #2. I hope for most creative professionals it is.

I find this to be a great value proposition for why organizations should use the content marketing approach that the Content Marketing Institute uses as its raison d'etre. Having energized employees is great for productivity. It is touted as the Holy Grail for Millennial generation employees.  And unlike other management hype, this one really works.

Are you a #1 or a #2 (so to speak :-)?

This Week in EID - Episode 90

We covered some really important topics on EID this week.  Here are some of the highlights:

On Monday, we talked about a social media strategy for counteracting ISIS’ well-performing strategy that has been attracting recruits from around the world.

On Tuesday we shared a new app that can help parents overcome their math and science anxiety and help their kids learn better.

On Wednesday we shared about a simple way to improve communication in domains where there is a power hierarchy: parents and children, doctors and patients, teachers and students, and so on.

And we closed on Thursday with a discussion of how to get people to comply more with socially beneficial behavior.

Enjoy – and have a great weekend.
